RUBICON is Hiring a Maintenance Superintendent Near Geismar, LA

The Maintenance Superintendent reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and has overall responsibility for all routine maintenance activities on the site. Overall responsibility means that the Maintenance Superintendent is ultimately responsible for the safety and well-being of Routine Rubicon and Contractor Associates, both direct and indirectly reporting. In addition, the Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for maintaining up-to-date maintenance programs to ensure plant safety and reliability. The Maintenance Superintendent is also responsible for the routine maintenance budget and maintenance expenditures under his direct control.
Know How
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Direct supervisory experience in the chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Substantial experience in chemical manufacturing.
  • Effective leadership, consultation, and communication skills.
  • Practical skills in organization, direction, administrative control, and employee relations.
  • Technical proficiency in understanding chemical processes and the associated equipment.
  • Familiarity with Corporate By-Laws, directives, and contractual obligations.
Problem SolvingThe primary objective for Maintenance Superintendent is to keep the production units operating safely and as smoothly as possible with minimal downtime and costs. To achieve this goal this position is required to provide the best maintenance practices and systems to minimize mechanical failures.
The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for routine maintenance execution and requires extensive interfaces with the Production and Engineering Departments. The Maintenance Superintendent must ensure that daily planning, scheduling, and execution capabilities are adequate.
The Maintenance Superintendent should ensure that maintenance work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards and specifications. It is his responsibility to see that skilled and qualified craftsmen are used on all maintenance jobs. Systems should be in place to ensure that the above objectives are achieved.
Problem solving is generally directed within functional practices and company policies and usually requires interpolation based on prior knowledge and experience.
Accountability
  • Manage maintenance activities within the Mechanical function in a cost effective manner
  • Continuously drive and execute maintenance process improvements to increase overall maintenance effectiveness and efficiency
  • Delivery of mechanical maintenance jobs effectively and efficiently
  • Delivering on KPIs including safety metrics and preventive/predictive maintenance
  • On-time and on-budget delivery of maintenance reliability projects
  • Ensuring appropriate skill and capability mix of technicians across the mechanical function
  • Assessing mechanical maintenance staff competency levels versus site requirements
  • Coaching and developing Rubicon personnel, holding them accountable for delivery of results and supporting mutually agreed development needs
  • Tracking and managing mechanical maintenance KPIs including wrench time, schedule compliance, and PM’s
  • Working with Reliability supervisor and ZEs to make decisions on problem equipment
  • Specifying equipment for replacement or improvement
  • Assisting in determining how and whether to repair problem equipment
  • Managing the overall mechanical work process execution and continuously working to identify improvements
  • Managing execution of maintenance reliability projects
  • Manages the maintenance budget to ensure high-quality, safety-focused maintenance is achieved cost-effectively
Physical RequirementsThe employee will, on occasion be required to Bend/Stoop, Climb, Reach above shoulder level and Kneel while reviewing work in the field.
The Employee will frequently be required to climb stairs and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. from floor to waist.
Employee will spend time: Standing 30%, Walking 30%, Sitting 40%.
