A direct hire for a thriving Detroit-based business is seeking self-motivated candidates to fill entry-level Heavy Equipment Operator positions. The position requires the operator to utilize various equipment including heavy and hand-held to ensure the appropriate movement of materials, trash, debris, brush to clear out the exterior and interior of residential homes. The operator will work in coordination with coworkers for the safe and accurate completion of all projects. Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maneuver motorized heavy equipment (e.g., skid steer) to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials and debris;
2. Load and offload trash, debris, brush, and other materials from heavy equipment;
3. Trim and cut trees, branches, and other exterior brush and debris using hand-held equipment;
4. Communicate with coworkers to clarify project specifications and coordination of work as needed;
5. Report injuries and other accidents to the site manager;
6. Advise the site manager of requisite upgrades, repairs, and replacements as needed;
7. Aid coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift;
8. Provide suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency;
9. Assist in cleaning trailer, truck, tools, and equipment;
10. Identify and report problems in a timely manner;
11. Observe all stipulated health and safety regulations and report any safety hazards;
12.Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations;
13. Follow all company policies & procedures including proper sign IN/OUT for attendance & timesheets;
14. Maintain positive attitude and work environment;
15. Responds quickly to all management requests;
16. Other duties as required

Work Environment: Position is primarily outdoors (sometimes in located at vacant house setting; climate may change from cold to hot, damp/wet (outside weather conditions); Moderately noisy; Require protective clothing, such as, safety goggles, and safety shoes, gloves, masks, etc.; The work is considered contractual, covering a variety of shifts to include days and afternoon, and may include weekends and may be subject to overtime. The position requires driving to various locations.

Preferred Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Must have ability to demonstrate at least one year of experience in operating heavy equipment and hand-held equipment; Valid driver's license and clean driving record required; Basic math skills and reading skills; Mechanic skills a plus.
