Under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Edgebander will operate the machine that glues veneer bands to the edges of wood parts

Duties:

• The Edgebander operator is responsible for tending the machine that glues veneer or plastic bands to edges of case tops, plywood panels
• Places stacks of edgeband in feed chutes
• Adjust the conveyor and trimming saws to the width and thickness of the panels or the tops to be banded
• Starts machine and feeds stock into machine that applies glue to the edges of the stock, pull edgeband from feed chute onto edges, dries the glue on heated plates and trim strips flush with edges
• Regulates the speed of the belts that convey the material through the machine
• Set temperature control to regulate the heat of the drying plates
• Brushes/clean glue on edges of panels
• Adjust stop of bander machine to width stock
• Set dial on temperature gauge to hear ram and stop according to thickness of the material
• Aligns material and edgeband between ram and stop
• Depress pedal to activate ram that presses material against stop and bonds veneer strips to the edge of the material
• Places material on worktable for any needed edge trimming and sanding.

Qualifications:

• 3 year experience setting up and running a Homag Edgebander or a Stefani Solution XD Edgebander
• The ability to read tape measure and calipers
• Knowledge of wood materials is preferred
• Ability to read blue fixture blueprints

Experience:

• 3 year experience running an Edgebander in a high-paced manufacturing environment.

Required education:

• High school or equivalent.

Working Conditions and physical requirements:
Working conditions are normal for a plant environment. Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Use hands and fingers, able to bend, reach hand over shoulders, climb, push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs.
