Royce Ashland Group is Hiring a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Manager Near Johnston, RI

Job Description:
This position reports to the General Manager, the Mobile Maintenance Manager has primary responsibility for ensuring the environmentally sound, safe, cost effective, planned, and efficient operations of all mobile equipment including prioritizing and scheduling of work assignments, assessing repairs, supervising and monitoring work quality, and managing direct reports (e.g. mechanics) in accordance with company policies, procedures, code of conduct, and in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations (e.g. DOT, OSHA, etc). Operating with a wide degree of latitude in decision making authority the incumbent is solely responsible for all maintenance and maintenance personnel within the assigned facility. These goals will be achieved through collaborative communication and partnership with Operations Management, Oracle EAM planner or administrator, Purchasing & Procurement, and third-party contractors, vendors/suppliers, engineering firms, equipment manufacturers, as well as following Best Practice benchmarks. The Mobile Maintenance Manager will also oversee and ensure success as it relates to the Comprehensive Oracle EAM Preventative Maintenance Program with a focus on continuous improvement.
 
 Accountabilities
 
  1. Safety & Environmental
The incumbent is responsible to ensure all Metals Business Safety and Environmental Standards are strictly adhered to and is encouraged to suggest and submit recommendations for improving safety or environmental conditions in accordance with company policies in consort with the Regional Safety Engineers(s) and/or Regional Environmental Manager as applicable. Additionally, they will conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, environmental awareness, or equipment use.
  1. Cost Control
The Incumbent will continuously monitor, negotiate, and adjust, all contracts, leases, expenses or agreements associated with the maintenance operations function. Additionally, they will monitor department spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets. Awareness of and strategic response to external influences, such as DOT and OSHA legislation is vital. 
 
  1. Planning
A range of business tasks is undertaken to support the smooth and efficient operation of maintenance processes, and typical work activities will include: determining schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel, monitoring tool and part inventories and the condition of maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions. The Equipment Maintenance Supervisor will develop, implement, and evaluate maintenance policies and procedures, examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs. They will compile operational and personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results via the use of Microsoft Office and Oracle EAM applications.
 
 
4. Communication
The Mobile Maintenance Manager will coordinate processes to ensure internal & external customer satisfaction. Ongoing involvement in the design, assessment, implementation, communication and monitoring of the organization’s internal controls in accordance with regulations and laws. Daily collaboration and communicating with other supervisors, managers and staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, or achieve goals, and objectives is required as is attendance at weekly and monthly operations meetings. The incumbent will maintain policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations and ensure adequate internal controls, which will continuously be reviewed and updated. This position will challenge conventional thinking in order to obtain the most efficient solutions to issues that arise as well as utilize best practices, benchmarks, and metrics to improve the organization.
 
5. Supervision
Plans, organizes, manages, and reviews the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the optimal performance is achieved in a manner consistent with organizational requirements and business objectives and goals. Coaches, counsels, disciplines, trains and develops staff as necessary. Monitors operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, union contracts, and governmental regulations and provides course corrections when needed. This position will supervise the maintenance foreman and the following positions:
 
  • Electrician
  • Welder
  • Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • Maintenance Mechanic & Truck Mechanic
 
Qualifications:
 
Minimum 5-10 years experience, or equivalent, in a related industrial environment. Previous supervisor or management experience in related field. College courses in business or management helpful.
This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive an automobile.

 Knowledge of fabrication; tools, maintenance of heavy equipment/parts, and repair; computer competent; attention to detail and accuracy; excellent math, organizational, and management skills; tact and ability to communicate on a professional level to employees of all levels from staff to senior management, both orally and in writing. 
Ability to obtain and evaluate data about equipment and how to use that information; work under heavy pressure; apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in controlled situations; and interpret an extensive variety of technical materials in books, manuals, texts, etc.
