- Collaborate with customer engineering to define and develop packaging solutions that meet their quality and cost goals
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality personnel regarding packaging design to ensure effective production methods
- Analyze current packaging methods and practices to ensure quality and cost goals are met
- Design and develop packaging for enhancements, product changes, and new products that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost
- Create and maintain accurate documentation of packaging solutions including the Customer Packaging Data Sheets and internal Packaging Reference Sheets
- General RFQ’s for new packaging construction and provide input on selection of outside vendors to optimally meet cost, timing, and quality objectives
- Utilize 8D problem solving techniques to troubleshoot and resolve packaging problems
- Partner closely with our main packaging vendor to drive CIP initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering preferred
- Prefer 5 years of experience as a Packaging Engineer within the automotive or furniture industry
- Launch experience preferred, including ongoing interface with the end customer
- Experience working with new packaging designs, packaging fabrication, and returnable packaging
- Ability to work with minimal direction, as well as consult with customers providing excellent communication skills
- Documentation experience including Customer Data Sheets, Packaging Instructions, Testing, control plans, etc
