POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Sr. Controls Engineer reports to the Director, Maintenance & Engineering and is responsible for manufacturing plant controls systems, including overseeing both new and existing outside vendors that program and troubleshoot plant control equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide training and guidance to shift controls technicians.
- Troubleshoot and program plant’s Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs).
- Manage outside maintenance contracts for plant controls including Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Responsible for root-cause analysis of plant controls issues and developing long-term solutions to resolve these issues.
- Program HMI screens using iFix software.
- Provide limited on-call support as business needs require.
All other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably in electrical engineering) other related engineering fields will be considered.
- 3-5 years of experience in control engineering
- Proven experience in troubleshooting electrical controls.
- Strong technical knowledge of programming plant PLC’s preferred.
- Working knowledge of safety standards for industrial plants, including NFPA 70E standards.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting electrical control wiring issues.
- Familiarity with safety standards for industrial plants, including NFPA 70E standards.
- Experience with Allen Bradley (Control Logix, CompactLogix) PLCs, Panel View/ Panel View Plus HMIs, and Industrial communications networks required.
- Experience with Modicon, Omron, and Proficy iFix preferred.
- Experience with servers and other IT/OT equipment
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience programming and networking Variable Frequency Drives.
- Excellent verbal, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
- Some physical requirements may include:
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, balancing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, grasping, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, typing, reading, talking, and hearing.
- The employee must occasionally lift up to one hundred (100) pounds with the assistance of another employee.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently working near production machinery and occasionally near hand jacks or forklifts.
- Frequently working in an environment with variable temperatures.
- Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process
