Royal American Companies is Hiring a Cost estimator Near Panama, FL

Job Summary :

This position is responsible for reading and understanding civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and architectural plans for completing take-offs and estimating products for construction of multi-family and similar projects for private, public & governmental clients.

Incumbent is expected to have excellent attendance and communication skills, possess the ability to build lasting business relationships, and exhibit professionalism.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Visit various sites for pre-bid meetings to see site conditions as needed to prepare a viable proposal, job site field measuring when required
  • Responsible for accurately performing take-offs
  • Submit RFI's to owners for clarification of project documents, etc.
  • Responsible for accurately interpreting specifications relating to the project
  • Work with design firm and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of bids for proposal
  • Review estimates for accuracy and exclusions prior to submission
  • Follow up with clients after proposal submission
  • Prepare submittals as per the specifications and ensure receipt of an approved set for the corporate office files
  • Oversee all documentation relating to bids, take-offs and recommended contracts
  • Actively work with project managers to ensure that estimated quantities and materials ordered are alike
  • Submit and track project submittals

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) :

  • Work Experience : Minimum of 5 years estimating experience with multi-family projects; Ability to use Procore, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD, and experience with Timberline Estimating software a plus
  • Must be a self-starter and have excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, business letter-writing skills, good documentation skills, customer service skills
  • Proper phone etiquette
  • Negotiating and analytical skills with strong mathematical ability
  • Full knowledge of products and estimating abilities for material take-offs
  • Able to overcome objections and handle rejection
  • Positive team attitude; ability to get along with people
  • Problem solving capabilities
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Strength in prioritizing, organizing and executing tasks
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, owners and vendors
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
  • Must be able to travel long distances in personally-owned vehicle on short notice to and from assigned job locations

Education and Experience :

  • College Degree
  • Previous work in an office environment with customer service skills
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Five years previous estimating experience preferred

Physical Demands :

  • Ability to drive between jobsites and use own or company vehicles and equipment to perform job functions. Valid Drivers License required
  • Ability to perform basic data entry, keyboarding, and mouse functions to complete job duties timely and efficiently
