POSITION SUMMARY

ROWE is currently looking for a Community Planner to join our team. Community Planners work in a group, and independently, on a variety of projects for various clients, while building and maintaining meaningful client relationships. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in client management.
• Provide technical documents for planning and zoning. 
• Prepare agendas and minutes.
• Draft a variety of cummunity plans and reports in areas such as land use, parks and recreation, zoning, and downtown development.
• Review development applications for consistency with zoning ordinance standards.
• Develop maps using ArcGIS and prepare statistical tabulations, computations, charts and graphs to illustrate planning studies in areas such as population, transportation, traffice, land use, zoning, proposed subdivisions and public utilities. 
• Prepare and update files and records.
• Compile and analyze data on economic, social, and physical factors affecting land use, and prepares or requisitions graphics and narrative reports on data.
• Complete technical analyes and draft zoning ordinance updates.
• Serve as point of contact for municipal clients in zoning administration and compliance.
• Serve as a point of contact for applicants and public officials for a limited subset of clents and projects.
• Coordination and participation in community engagement including public meetings, workshops, and zoning and planning meetings.
• Coordination with other design services staff including municipal engineers, landscape archeticts, administrative staff, and others.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

We are seeking forward-thinking, safety-conscious, and energetic individuals who are excited to work on both small-scale and large-scale projects. Qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban or Regional Planning or an equivalent field of study, master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience (Planner I), minimum of 6 years' experience (Planner II).
• AICP preferred.

• Experience in community planning for cities, townships and villages.

• Familiar with ArcGIS, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite and other programs typically used for planning purposes. 
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal planning with experience in researching and providing technical writing required to meet client needs.
• Knowledgeable in master planning, zoning, and downtown planning.
• Exceptional communication and writting skills.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical/judgement capabilities.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Available to attend night meetings 
• Ability to work independently or on a team.
• Ability to work remote and in person effectively.
• Willingness to learn and apply feedback.
