  • The Department of Wellness and Inclusive Services in Education (formerly the Interdisciplinary and Inclusive Education Department) operates within the College of Education and offers programs including the following : Master of Arts in Special Education and Inclusive Practices;
  • Learning Disability Teacher Consultant (LDTC) Certification; multiple Certificates of Graduate Study (COGS); Bachelor of Arts in Inclusive Education;
  • Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) Endorsement (postbac and graduate programs); Counseling in Educational Settings;

Master of Arts in School Psychology; Educational Specialist in School Psychology; and School Nursing.

The College of Education is searching for a highly qualified and experienced LDTC and Special Education professional to teach courses in the graduate LDTC programs.

The professional will also participate in service initiatives, particularly LDTC program coordination and implementation, and related initiatives.

The successful candidate will have a teaching philosophy guided by a commitment to diversity, social justice, cultural responsiveness, sociocultural theory and constructivism.

Expertise in areas such as assessment, diagnostic assessment, curriculum, collaborative practices, and inclusive pedagogy is preferred.

The Department of Wellness and Inclusive Services in Education is seeking to hire a qualified individual as full-time Lecturer.

This 10-month faculty positions is non-tenure track but offer renewable multi-year contracts. The position requires a teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year with the opportunity to teach overload courses for additional compensation.

Required Qualifications :

  • Masters degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education at the time of appointment.
  • Certification as a LDTC or Educational Diagnostician
  • A minimum of 5 years of public-school teaching in inclusive P-12 settings or a private school for students with disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate, evidence-based practices in diverse educational settings;

experience with student-centered practices and evidence-based teaching strategies for students with a range of suspected and diagnosed disability labels.

  • Demonstrated ability in communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, including commitment to inclusion, social justice and equity in special education, and culturally responsive and differentiated instruction, as well as collaboration, collegiality, and respect for all people.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with multiple stakeholders, P-12 schools, and underrepresented groups of children.
  • A teaching / learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education.

Additional Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in program development, higher education teaching in multiple formats (including in-person, online, and hybrid), supervision and / or coordination of supervision.
  • Experience with program coordination or leadership in special education programs or a willingness to lead at the program level.
  • Experience with multiple forms of formal and informal assessment and the evaluation of stakeholders and educational environments.
  • Advocacy related to access, success, and equity issues in education.
