Position Summary:

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is looking for a coordinator to oversee the Tutoring Center. This position coordinates all tutoring resources and services for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. The Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Tutoring Services, both on-campus and online. The coordinator maintains the quality and effectiveness of Tutoring Services through leadership and the development, marketing, implementation and administration of a comprehensive academic support program that meets College and State requirements.

Required Education/Experience:

Master’s degree in education or an academic subject area
Experience in post-secondary instruction and tutoring.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

Two years teaching experience in a community college.
One year of post-secondary tutoring experience.
Supervision experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duty and Responsibility:

Ensures daily operations and records are in full compliance with all applicable College requirements and State regulations.

Duty and Responsibility:

Compiles and submits all required faculty, institutional and State reports in a timely manner.

Duty and Responsibility:

Conducts annual planning and program review processes. Implements objectives to accomplish approved operational plans and program goals.

Duty and Responsibility:

Hires and supervises tutoring staff/tutors. Conducts all tutor training in compliance with certification guidelines, as applicable. Conducts all tutor observations and staff/tutor evaluations annually for progress and growth.

Duty and Responsibility:

Directs staff work assignments; creates and directs staff schedules. Supervises tutor attendance and finding substitutes.

Duty and Responsibility:

Monitors expenditures and program budgets.

Duty and Responsibility:

Oversees the administration of assessment instruments and program evaluation. Communicates results as required by the department and institution.

Duty and Responsibility:

Keeps aware of current trends and effective practices related to tutoring in higher education. Modifies processes and services accordingly, as approved.

Duty and Responsibility:

Leads marketing and communications for the continued development and growth of Tutoring Services. Acts as the liaison between Tutoring Services and the College community to ensure feedback is solicited and needs are addressed.

Duty and Responsibility:

Participates in tutoring-related vendor communications and contract preparation, monitors billing and usage records, and/or provides technical support as directed by the employee’s manager.

Duty and Responsibility:

Serves the College by instructing one course per semester, based on credentials and academic needs (unless otherwise approved by the employee’s manager), and serving on College and State committees as required/approved by the employee’s manager.
