Meet the Adjacencies team:
The Adjacencies team works with senior leaders across Rover to identify, investigate, and prove out new strategic business opportunities to help achieve our mission of helping more people to experience the unconditional love of a pet.
We're looking for engineers who:
We’re looking for a senior software engineer to provide technical leadership and help guide the Adjacency team's technical decision-making. Engineers on the team are heavily involved in figuring out how to tackle huge new opportunities, so strong business sense and an entrepreneurial mindset are critical.
Our team works on projects across Rover’s technical stack (Python/Django, React, React Native). Ideal candidates may have an area of expertise, but can contribute and ramp up quickly in many areas and should be comfortable working full-stack. We don’t view anything here as a rigid requirement. Instead here are some ideas of the backgrounds we’re interested in:

Your Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience as a professional software developer.
  • Comfort working across the entire system from frontend to backend.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and schema design.
  • Passionate about automated testing, code quality, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience coaching more junior developers.
  • Experience with large distributed systems with an emphasis on observability, instrumentation, monitoring.
  • Effective communication on design/engineering trade-offs to product managers/designers.
  • Intuition for when to call it "good enough", and when to put in the extra time to polish.
  • You get along well with others and thrive in a collaborative environment and your values align with Rover's Core Values.
