Groundskeeper (Temporary during summer/fall)

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. Must be able to communicate effectively

DIRECTLY REPONSIBLE TO: Building Principal

RESPONSIBILITY:

The grounds person shall work cooperatively with the building principal to insure attractive and safe school grounds. This is an eight (8) hour per day, twelve (12) month position.

GENERAL DUTIES:

The grounds person shall be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of all exterior areas of the school site.

REGULAR TASKS:

1. Mowing all outside grass
2. Maintaining flower beds
3. Fertilizing lawns and plants, including building entrance plants
4. Watering lawns and plants, playgrounds, playing fields
5. Elimination of weeds and other undesirable growth and animals, including rodents, gophers, wasps, etc.
6. Keeping sidewalks and parking areas clean
7. Removal of snow as needed
8. Removal of ice from all sidewalks, use needed ice melt on slippery and hazardous surfaces
9. Clean catch basins, drains, both grates and roof
10. Remove all trash from building exterior
11. Empty exterior trash cans
12. Inspect all exterior areas for safety hazards, follow insurance inspection areas of recommendation for swings, slides, merry-go-rounds, etc.
13. Clean and maintain all entryways
14. Drain and winterize all sprinkler lines, maintain risers, repair hoses, etc.

PERIODIC TASKS:

1. Touch-up painting, other painting as needed
2. Trimming and pruning of trees and shrubs
3. Replacing trees, shrubs, lawns
4. Attend all meetings called by supervisor
5. Perform general maintenance as assigned by supervisor
6. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor
7. Perform all janitorial cleaning as assigned by supervisor
8. Order cleaning supplies and equipment with supervisor approval
