WORK HOURS: Full time or Part time - work hours vary. May work any time during which the store is open.

JOB SUMMARY: Work under the direction of Natural Living Department Manager. Perform a variety of duties within the department including customer service, stocking, placing orders and cleaning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be able to communicate pleasantly and efficiently with all customers, vendors and fellow employees, under all circumstances.
2. Must be able to meet State age requirements for selling cigarettes and alcoholic beverages.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of product and its uses.
2. Keep worktables, display cases and aisles clean at all times.
3. Must complete assigned duties on a daily basis.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Walk aisles in the department looking for damage or clean up.
2. Stock the dairy walk-in by opening freight and placing items in milk crates or boxes. Use a cart to bring freight to the walk-in. While restocking worker will look at expiration date.
3. Perform freight duties by retrieving a six-wheeled cart from the storage room and remove product from a pallet, place on the cart and sort by location or specific product aisle. May lift 5-40 lbs. cases of product off a pallet. Move pallets as needed using a pallet jack. Carts are wheeled out to the sales floor where the worker will take cases off the cart and place them in front of the specific product on the shelf. Open the cases using a box knife and hand stock the product onto the shelf. In the bulk department, heavier lifting of items occurs. (max 50 lbs. including bulk bags of product).
4. Assist customers by answering questions concerning location of items, price and use of merchandise. Worker will need to be knowledgeable about new diets and various products.
5. Take customer information for any specific requests.
6. Price product as directed for discontinued items using a pricing gun.
7. Place orders by phone or email to vendors. Use a scanner as appropriate.
8. Clean bulk machines including honey and nut butter machines by taking the grinder apart, place it in the sink in the back room and spray it using the nozzle; dry and reassemble. (not all store may have bulk machines.)
9. Dust shelves using a spray cleaner with rag or duster. Sweep as needed. Clean bulk bins as needed by emptying, washing and refilling the bins. Clean behind the bins quarterly which requires removal of all the bins and wiping down the area.
10. Change price tags. Tags can be removed and replaced using a tag puller or manually by hand.
11. Use a cardboard baler to recycle cardboard boxes.
12. Change kegs of Kombucha as needed. Kegs are placed on a cart and wheeled to the area to be changed. (Not all stores may have Kombucha kegs.)

Must be eighteen (18) years of age

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to lift, carry and push up to 50 pounds.
