AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN

- $1000 SIGN ON BONUS -

Dickson City Hyundai, located at 1519 Scranton Carbondale Highway in Scranton, PA 18508, is a busy automotive dealership and service department. As we head into our busy season, we're looking to hire experienced B and C level Automotive Technicians to join our team.

Job Summary:

As an Automotive Technician, you'll be responsible for repairing and overhauling automobiles, buses, trucks, and other automotive vehicles. You'll examine vehicles, plan work procedures, and raise vehicles with hydraulic jacks or hoists to gain access to mechanical units bolted to the underside of the vehicle. You'll be expected to repair and replace various parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings. Other duties will include relining and adjusting brakes, aligning front ends, repairing or replacing shock absorbers, and soldering leaks in radiators. You'll also rewire the ignition system, lights, and instrument panel, and install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers. State inspection and emissions licenses are a plus, but not required.

Job Duties:

• Examine vehicles and discuss the nature and extent of damage or malfunction with customers or Automobile Repair Service Estimators.
• Plan work procedures and raise vehicles with hydraulic jacks or hoists to gain access to mechanical units bolted to the underside of the vehicle.
• Repair or replace various parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
• Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
• Rebuild parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks.
• Rewire the ignition system, lights, and instrument panel, and install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
• Reline and adjust brakes, align front ends, repair or replace shock absorbers, and solder leaks in radiators.
• Mend damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical training
• 2 years of related experience

Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.

The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Hours of Work : This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and every other Saturday, 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
