Roper St. Francis Healthcare is Hiring an Advanced Practitioner-NP or PA Near Mount Pleasant, SC

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of his/her physician supervisor, the Advanced Practitioner assists physicians in rendering care to patients. Primary responsibilities include: (1) providing evaluation and management of primary care patients; (2) coordinates and implements plan of care in consultation with supervising physician for patients; (3) serves as the primary liaison between the nursing staff and the physician; (4) collaborates with other members of the healthcare team in care planning and arranging follow up care or referral as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: B.S. Degree is required. Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner (NP) program accredited by an appropriate agency recognized by the South Carolina State Board.

Experience: Experience in primary care, internal medicine, urgent care or related preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Must be licensed and/or certified by appropriate agencies as required by state law. Must be licensed by SCSBME. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card. Other certifications may be required depending on the location of the position.

Knowledge/Skills: Knowledgeable in basic patient care, as well as scope and responsibility of Advanced Practice Nurse. Knowledge of theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques necessary to provide on-going patient care. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, hospital, medical staff and the public. Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Other: The Advanced Practitioner relies on the supervising physician to be available for consultation, provide advice and must be able to utilize, understand and physically operate clinical equipment as well as office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, etc. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Empathy in communication with families. Able to communicate accurately and positively with other health professionals. Good interpersonal skills required. Ability to perform arithmetic calculations with accuracy. Ability to establish priorities and apply common sense approach to patient care.

Contacts: Must have ability to deal with and successfully interact with patients, families, visitors and physicians. Must work productively and diplomatically with hospital staff and other employees, representing the program and the organization in the most positive light.
