SUMMARY:

Obtains the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. Identifies manufacturing needs, selects suppliers, negotiates contracts, and arranges delivery for a high volume and variety of parts, equipment, services, and materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Identify and recommend suppliers through investigation and research.
• Conduct supplier site visits and evaluate production capability and performance.
• Prepare requests for quotations and submit purchase orders with approved suppliers.
• Evaluate bids for standard and non-standard items, negotiate price, delivery, quality, and service.
• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, resolve quality discrepancies, and facilitate inspections.
• Negotiate and settle damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers.Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Provide parts, equipment, and materials information by answering questions and requests.
• Apply continuous improvement techniques to internal processes and systems.Maintain professional knowledge through education, workshops, and networking.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and aerospace industry regulations and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
• Two or more years of purchasing experience.
• Certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM) or APICS desired.
• Knowledge of purchasing and negotiating methods, industry practices, and legal requirements.
• Proficiency in standard business application software and specialized purchasing systems.
• Ability to analyze situations, communicate effectively, and negotiate to obtain best prices and terms.
• Ability to work within general work objectives and effectively demonstrate team competencies.
