Let them eat cake and make dreams come true! Are you a highly motivated, creative person looking for an exciting opportunity? The Roostertail is seeking a full-time Event Coordinator and Sales Representative for event sales and execution along the Detroit waterfront.

This position is hard, but extremely rewarding. Must be an extrovert and prepared to receive dozens of compliments! Must be a workaholic! You must be willing to work a flexible schedule with hours that change depending on scheduled events. Nights and weekends are required. Parties don't run themselves!

Responsibilities include:

• Sell, build, and create private events.
• Work with clients from their initial inquiry to the close of the event.
• Collaborate with other departmental managers in operations, kitchen, and bar to ensure events run smoothly.
• Design proposals and menus for potential clients.
• Negotiate and prepare event agreements and client contracts.
• Advise and make recommendations to clients on menu selections, beverage selections, room layout, design, and timeline.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle any issues or concerns that may arise during the event.
• Set up payment plans and ensure payments are received on time.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Required - Basic knowledge and enjoyment of events

Preferred - 3 years of sales or event experience

EDUCATION: Preferred - High School diploma or equivalent

Qualifications:

• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, including going up & down stairs.
• Ability to lift 30 to 50 lbs.
• Ability to learn computer and web-based applications.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to provide superior hospitality.
• Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
