Position Summary
This position entails the following category of instruction:
Weekly applied oboe and/or English horn lessons taught onsite at the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) Chicago campus, working with students enrolled in the following degree programs:
  • Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance;
  • Bachelor of Music Education;
  • Bachelor of Musical Arts;
  • Bachelor of Arts;
  • Master of Music in Oboe Performance;
  • Master of Music in Multiple Woodwind Performance;
  • Master of Music in Orchestral Studies, with an Oboe concentration;
  • Performance Diploma in Oboe Performance;
  • Professional Diploma in Orchestra Studies, with an Oboe concentration.
This is a part-time position with a cap of 20 total teaching hours per week.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree; significant teaching and/or performing experience will be considered in place of earned degrees.
  • Documented record of consistent professional experience and visibility as a performer.
Job Duties Include:
  • High level of active engagement toward student recruitment.
  • Successful retention of students by means of effective and healthy pedagogy.
  • Participation in adjudication of recitals, woodwind juries, and woodwind auditions.
  • Clear and timely communications.
  • Timely submission of all grades.
  • Consistent usage of Roosevelt University email address (to be assigned upon onboarding).
  • Submission of a studio syllabus each semester (university-mandated template will be provided) documenting all studio policies, expectations, procedures, and grading criteria.

  • Bachelor’s degree; significant teaching and/or performing experience will be considered in place of earned degrees.
  • Documented record of consistent professional experience and a high level of visibility as a performer in a variety of settings, as an in-demand solo recitalist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree; significant teaching and/or performing experience will be considered in place of earned degrees.
  • Experience in collegiate-level teaching.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions
Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds). May be exposed to loud noise from instrument and voice practice rooms on-site.
