Position Title: Mobile Lunch Box Coordinator

Type: Seasonal Summer Full-Time Hourly (40 Hours)

Pay: $17/hour

Position summary

The Mobile Lunchbox Coordinator is an essential part of our effort to deliver fresh and healthy lunches to students in more than 27 neighborhoods across 5 school districts in Dakota County. An ideal candidate will love working with and supporting volunteers, care deeply about fighting hunger in children, and will be creative and flexible.
This position coordinates the operation of a 12-week summer lunch program for low-income students in Dakota County that provides access to fresh healthy food in the form of more than 24,000 meals. This position supports our volunteer workforce and ensures clients are served in a dignified and compassionate manner.

Primary Duties & Essential Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operation of the Mobile Lunchbox Programs
• Recruit, support, and lead volunteers
• Interact with clients, donors and volunteers in a professional, grateful & respectful manner.
• Maintain client, volunteer, and organizational confidentiality at all times.
• Support volunteers during daily operations and assist in on-the-job volunteer training. Give clear and positive directions to volunteers when necessary.
• Receive, sort, stock, load and store food inventory and donations.
• Track & record food shelf data in Excel spreadsheets and other databases.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of facilities. This includes cleaning, breaking down boxes, carrying out trash and keeping work areas clutter-free.
• Plan, load and drive mobile vehicles to distribution sites and distribute food to clients.
• Maintain and promote positive relationships with site partners.
• Plan, load and drive retail rescue vehicles to retailers or other donors.
• Load and unload rescued food inventory.
• Maintain and promote positive relations with site partners.
• Perform other duties associated with the orderly operation of the food shelf.
• Adhere to and actively promote the mission and values of the organization.
• Adhere to safety procedures & policies at all times.

Experience and Skills

• High School Diploma or GED
• Volunteer support experience preferred
• Client service or Food Shelf experience preferred
• Sound computer skills including MS Office and Google Suite
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Access to a vehicle, valid drivers license, and good driving record
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
• Ability to kneel, bend and twist

Work Schedule

Program Coordinator will maintain a flexible work schedule consisting primarily of daytime availability with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities with notice. Position will be for June – August 2024.
