Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest (RMHC-UM) in partnership with our community, provides a comfortable and caring home-away-from-home that supports keeping families together and reduces stress during a child’s serious illness or injury. RMHC-UM operates five locations in Minnesota---four in the Twin Cities and one in Duluth, and provides complimentary lodging, meals and support to thousands of families every year.

Job Summary
The Housekeeping Coordinator is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing and restocking overnight rooms, family laundry rooms and common areas used by guests.

Primary Responsibilities
Clean & Restock overnight rooms

  • Clean, sanitize and disinfect overnight rooms, following the cleaning checklist
  • Dispose of anything left in the room including trash, recycling and compostable items
  • Replenish room supplies, including linens, towels, etc. and make beds with fresh linens
  • Identify maintenance needs and submit work orders before room is “ready” status
  • Respond to guests’ requests for miscellaneous items including cribs, cots, extra towels, etc. in a timely manner
  • Clean, disinfect and store all equipment at the end of the shift
  • Assist other departments when needed to ensure optimum service to guests

Clean and stock common family areas

  • On a regular basis, thoroughly clean, sanitize and disinfect common family spaces including but not limited to laundry rooms, hallways and staircases, lounges, playrooms, family activity centers, gym, fitness center and theater
  • Organize and maintain the staff laundry room, washing dirty linens and putting away clean items
  • Empty the trash, recycling and composting receptacles in the above areas
  • Regularly check and stock basic house supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • Inform supervisory staff of any supply needs

Lead & supervise individual room refreshers & group volunteers as needed/scheduled

  • Train and supervise assigned volunteers
  • Oversee a team of volunteer room refreshers

Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time on-site position.
Hours of work are generally Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
May include infrequent evenings and weekends as required

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two to four years of experience cleaning in residential and/or commercial facilities preferred

  • Self-starter with high tolerance for multi-tasking and interruptions
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with families and volunteers

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Operate as a team player and able to work effectively with all employees and constituents of RMHC-UM
  • Able to take initiative and persevere through difficult situations
  • Manage details, organize, prioritize in a fluid environment
  • Compassion and the ability to work with families facing a health crisis or loss of a child

Physical Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the facility
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stretch and climb to clean family rooms and common areas
