Our dedicated staff and volunteers help families with sick children stay close to each other and the care they need, when they need it most.

Position Summary

The Facilities & Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring safe and well-maintained environments for all guest families of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region (RMHC-CR). Working in coordination with our housekeeping team, this position will focus on general repairs and maintenance of buildings and grounds at the Albany Ronald McDonald House and, occasionally, the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat at Krantz Cottage in Lake George. Primary functions include but are not limited to: basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, lawn care, snow removal, etc. As part of the facilities team, this position may also require occasional cleaning and disinfecting of RMHC-CR properties. This is a part-time position requiring 16-20 hours of work per week, reporting to the Director of Operations. The hours are flexible, preferably Monday-Friday.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• One year of related maintenance experience preferred
• Reliable transportation and ability to work Monday-Friday with some occasional weekend hours
• Valid NYS driver’s license and excellent driving record
• Manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance required
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, carry, walk, stoop, climb and lift (items up to 50 pounds without assistance and up to 140 pounds with assistance) for the majority of the shift
• Comfortable engaging with families in a compassionate manner
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage complaints/requests with professionalism and patience
• Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and other building systems
• Familiarity with operating lawn equipment, snow blower and power tools preferred
• Ability to perform repetitive arm and wrist movements
• Ability to work securely and safely on ladder/step ladder
• High mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for addressing maintenance issues

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 20 per week
