GENERAL SUMMARY :
Roland Park Country School, a K-12 independent girls' school, seeks a part-time Upper School United States History Teacher.
The history teacher reports directly to the Upper School Head and is a valued member of the History Department. The individual in this role will foster an exciting, dynamic, and creative learning environment wherein students acquire inquiry skills and an in-depth understanding of historical thinking.
This individual collaborates with passionate educators to engage and inspire students to develop an interest in authentic historical analysis, research, and writing.

We are a collaborative group of educators : teamwork permeates the department overall, and decisions are derived through discussion and consensus building.
Within the Upper School, students study two years of World History and one year of U.S. History. We also offer a rich variety of rigorous courses as senior year upper-level electives, ranging from global to local in their focus and examining the world through a variety of critical lenses.
Through our curriculum, we aim to graduate informed, analytical, and critical scholars who not only identify problems but orient themselves toward solutions.
This part-time role carries a workload of 40-60% and primarily involves teaching two to three sections of History to Upper School students.
Additional responsibilities may include academic advising and other duties as outlined below.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Remain in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Repeat motion of wrists, hands, and fingers to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, printer, and phone.
Requires visual acuity to read a variety of written materials.
Physical agility : stand, kneel, walk, run, push / pull, squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, reach overhead, crouch, and can respond to emergencies.
Must be able to move around and access all parts of the campus upon request, which includes gym, turf, fields, dining hall, etc.
Occasionally ascend and descend stairs in emergency situations.
WORK CONDITIONS
BACKGROUND CHECK :
A background check (including criminal records and employment history review) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can begin work with RPCS.
Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status or start of employment.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS :
Occasional travel may be required for field trips and other program related activities.
