A top national privately held homebuilder in Ocala, FL is seeking an experienced CAD Designer to join one of its growing teams. The ideal candidate will possess high-volume, national, regional, or local construction computer aided design/drafting experience.

Compensation for the New Home Construction AutoCAD Designer:

  • Hourly: $22 to $31.25 per hour.
  • Overtime potential.
  • Total compensation up to approximately $65,000 BEFORE ANY OVERTIME.

Responsibilities

  • As a CAD Drafting Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing the architectural and structural design aspects of the residential building process. You will work closely with the team to produce accurate and comprehensive AutoCAD drawings, ensuring that projects are executed with 100% accuracy and efficiency.
  • Create detailed and accurate CAD drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Interpret and prepare clear, concise, and accurate working plans with detail drawings from work orders & architectural renderings.
  • Implement applicable building codes.
  • Oversee permit-start packages (blueprints, plot plans, truss, etc.).
  • Maintain, revise & update existing plans to reflect feature and specification changes, with an emphasis on value engineering and office-related cost variance reduction.
  • Recommend new plan enhancements to department head, estimator, etc.
  • Complete drawings from design development stage to final working drawings producing construction drawings, blueprints, and schematics for residential construction projects.
  • Specify materials, trims, fixtures, and construction assemblies.
  • Prepare and maintain floor plans for marketing and sales brochures.
  • Provide complete sets of residential construction drawings for permitting in a timely manner.
  • Ensure drawings are fully coordinated with structural calculations and that drawings are sealed and signed by designated engineer.
  • Coordinate with other departments on project specifications and product features to assure accurate representation.
  • Review & approve shop drawings for individual structures including roof truss, surveys/site plans, product approvals, HVAC layouts and energy calculations.
  • Facilitate field repairs and construction modifications by generating details and coordinating between Superintendents, sub-contractors, and Engineers.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with City Plan Reviewers and Inspectors and ensure drawings comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Complete logs, and track all lot specific permit preps.
  • Maintain organized AutoCAD files and records for easy access and reference.
  • Participate in quality control checks to ensure drawing accuracy.
  • Keep up to date with AutoCAD software advancements and industry best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience and solid background in producing complete construction documents using AutoCAD release 2016 or newer required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional specialized technical courses or equivalent preferred.
  • A valid Florida Driver’s License.
