Description
Become a valued team member of our well-established Family Medicine practice. Rocky Mountain Primary Care is seeking a Medical Assistant Lead (being BILINGUAL-Spanish is desirable) with one year of experience for our Arvada location. National Certification is not required but is a PLUS. There is a pay differential for candidates with national certification. You will be an important member our Patient Care Team which consists of the Provider, Receptionists, Referrals Coordinator and other staff members. The Care Team is responsible for the delivery of "patient centered" care and works to achieve the patient's healthcare and self-management goals, as well as quality improvement goals as set forth by the practice. This is a full-time position, Monday- Friday and some Saturdays. Early mornings and later afternoons may be required (ranging between 7:00am to 6:00pm). This position requires that you have great attention to detail and can accurately and quickly enter detailed patient information into the EHR. Must be able to perform well under pressure and enjoy a very fast pace.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
  • Greets and triages patients in person or on the phone.
  • Answers questions and/or determines the need for physician intervention.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify conditions of illness and wellness.
  • Room Patients, take and records vital signs, chief complaint, and other pertinent information, in preparation for the provider.
  • Track test results as directed by the provider and communicate with the patient as needed.
  • Enters all information in patients EHR.
  • Ensures test results and other pertinent data is in the EHR prior to the provider entering exam room.
  • Participates with care team members in huddles and pre-visit planning to ensure all needed information is available and to anticipate any potential issues within the schedule
  • Prepares exam and treatment rooms, including instrument, supplies and protective devices.
  • Maintains and stocks supplies. Cleans and sterilizes instruments in accordance with infection control and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Orders supplies and Medications.
  • Checks expiration dates of supplies.
  • Assists with obtaining specimens, labeling, and dispositioning to the laboratory. Explains diagnostic procedures to patient when needed.
  • Assists in scheduling patients for testing procedures and providing patient instructions specific to test.
  • Provides patient instruction using pre-approved patient education materials for the respective practice and documents action in EHR.
  • Provides patient/family with education specific to the chief complaint, offers education for health promotion for observed behaviors known to contribute to poor health in accordance with the desires of the provider.
  • Completes discharge of patient from exam room including written instructions and follow-up appointment and/or referral information.
  • Meets requirements for proper handling and disposing of bio-hazardous waste.
  • Tracks the receipt of diagnostic results including the reporting of the results by the provider to the patient. Contacts patient regarding abnormal test results and the need for appropriate treatment as directed by the provider.
  • Interprets providers orders to patients when necessary.
  • Has patient complete "Tickler" return appointment card.
  • Mails out "Tickler" reminder cards in a timely manner.
  • Send faxes in a timely manner.
  • Understanding the use of medications including basic dosages, side effects and interactions. Answers patients' questions concerning medications when necessary. Forwards prescriptions to pharmacies at the direction of the provider.
  • Participates in clinic meetings, activities, or special projects per clinic guidelines.
  • Problem solving and initiative.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Work closely with office manager.
  • Works closely with MA staff for scheduling and training.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES* will meet all of the following requirements:
  • Prefer one year of experience, preferably in a Family Practice setting
  • National Certification is preferred but not required (pay differential)
  • Experience in performing EKGs, PFTs and immunizations preferred
  • Experience using electronic health records ( NextGen experience is a plus!)
  • Enthusiastic, have a positive attitude and a great work ethic
  • Enjoy a fast-paced environment and work as part of a care team
  • Exceptional customer service skills

  • Flexible
  • Ability to take direction from, and work well with, others
