Description

Position Summary: The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for conducting safe, effective and enjoyable classes for the members of the Y. The specific duties of the Group Exercise Instructor include exercise/fitness instruction, member service, member involvement and responsibility for providing state-of-the-art, quality exercise/fitness classes. The Group Exercise Instructor is expected to provide leadership that keeps the Y in the forefront of the healthy lifestyles and service industry.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

• The individual must possess a professional image and ability to provide excellent leadership, up-to-date instruction and high-energy motivation.
• Must have the ability to work harmoniously with members, guests and staff.
• Must set an excellent example of health and fitness and customer service.
• Must hold current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Minimum 1 year experience instructing group exercise.
• A Group Exercise leader certification is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays
