Position: High School Band Teacher
Certification:
Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
Michigan certification in K-12 Music Education (JQ endorsement).
Must meet Highly Qualified certification requirements.
Qualifications:
1. Demonstrate a strong knowledge of music theory, notation, and history.
2. Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments is essential.
3. Ability to read sheet music and teach students to read and interpret musical scores.
4. Strong marching band teaching experience.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
6. Ability to foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment and build strong relationships with students and parents.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Direct instrumental performers, including marching band, concert band, soloists, and ensembles.
2. Supervise fundraising activities, accounting of funds and products, and deposit procedures.
3. Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all band equipment.
4. Candidate should desire to apply for the Band Director and Jazz Band Director extra-duty positions (Schedule B of the teacher contract).
