Rockford Park District is Hiring a Summer Robotics Teacher - Discovery Center Museum Near Rockford, IL
Discovery Center Museum in Rockford, Illinois is dedicated to hands-on learning in the arts and sciences through more than 300 exciting exhibits spread over two floors and an award winning outdoor Discovery Park. We serve children, parents, and educators from the Rockford region and beyond through both Museum visits and outreach programs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Present a positive, professional image as an ambassador for the Museum
- Responsible for educational content of programs, classes, outreach, teacher workshops, exhibits.
- Work with youth volunteers to develop demonstrations, and to work in other capacities in museum.
- Conduct 6 weeks of summer robotics camp with a developed curriculum.
- Each camp day runs from 8:00am to 1:00pm.
- 20 students in grades 4-6 will attend each week.
- All necessary hardware is provided by Discovery Center.
- Reports to Executive Director
- Perform other duties as assigned
Week Schedule
- Week A: July 8 - July 12
- Week B: July 15 - July 19
- Week C: July 22 - July 26
- Week D: July 29 - August 2
- Week E: August 5 - August 9
- Week F: August 12 - August 16
High School Diploma or GED and experience with coding/robotics.
- Have an interest in and the ability to work with children
- Strong work ethic
- Multi-task efficiently while maintaining a workload in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Superior customer service skills with the ability to be creative and flexible
- Strong communication skills
- Effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds and different levels of experience
- Ability to work in a busy environment with many distractions
- Ability to track information
