FLUIDS ENGINEER II

As a Fluids Engineer II with our Archimedes Engine Test Team, you will be responsible for the design, build, activation, and operation of fluid systems in direct support of our Neutron Launch Vehicle test site at Stennis Space Center.

To be successful in this role, you must have the ability to work on multiple cross discipline projects and demonstrate excellent project management, communication, and supervision skills. You must also have high level decision-making skills as well as a good understanding of engineering change processes.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • Design of fluid systems including cryogenics, hydraulics, fuels, and high pressure gases to support Archimedes engine testing. 
  • Perform trade studies and sizing – using hand-calcs, analytical models or test data – to define key elements of system architecture 
  • Generate & maintain schematics of fluid/process systems e.g. P&IDs, connection diagrams 
  • Component selection, development, and maintenance of BOMs 
  • Support certification of launch pad fluid systems and maintenance program development 
  • Get your hands dirty during project build phases

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or process engineering, or other technical degree 
  • 2 years of experience in process engineering, design, test and/or operations in the aerospace industry; or other industrial sectors
  • Ability to perform fundamental fluid system analysis 
  • Experience with 3D CAD & PLM software, such as NX 

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • 2 years experience designing and operating complex fluid systems for liquid bipropellant launch vehicles 
  • Experience with piping systems (large or small) 
  • E-Plan, NX and Teamcenter experience 
  • Experience with Nodal Analysis Tools (e.g. GFSSP, AFT) 
  • Experience with pipe stress software (e.g. Ceasar II) 
  • Experience with ASME, ASTM, NFPA, and/or NASA ground system standards would be an asset 

 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing. 
  • Must be physically able to commute to buildings
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
