    Job Summary
    Teach assigned classes, within the Dental Hygiene Program in the Dental Hygiene Clinic.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.
    1. Instruct students in the proper use of lab equipment where appropriate.
    2. See that equipment and/or labs are properly maintained where appropriate.
    3. Participate in assessment of student learning.
    4. Maintain student records and evaluate student progress.
    5. Attend required meetings (faculty, division, in-service training, etc.).
    Doctor of Dental Surgery Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    6. Review Health History with students identifying implications on dental hygiene care.
    7. Perform dental exams to guide students to apply dental materials’ theory to patient care.
    8. Assist with X-Rays:
    o Grade students’ techniques.
    o Support student interpretation skills to identify oral pathologies/diseases.
    9. Prescribe sealants and grade students’ technique in applying sealants.
    10. Local Anesthetics:
    o Administer local anesthetics to patients prior to student certification.
    o Observe and provide feedback to certified students in the administration of local anesthetics.
    Qualifications
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Minimum Qualifications
    1. Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from a Commission of Dental Association (CODA) accredited Dental School
    2. Current IL DDS license or IL DDS faculty license
    3. Flexibility in work schedule
    4. Interest in serving a diverse student population
    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Experience teaching in a Dental Hygiene program
    2. Experience with Dentrix patient software
    3. Experience with digital x-rays
    Work Environment
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a classroom, office, clinic, and lab setting.
