Summary

Participates as a member of the middle school administrative team to ensure that the school environment that is safe and conductive to learning.

Building Duties:

Department Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Formulates and develops student personnel policies.

Advises staff members on problems relating to policy, program, and administration.

Assist in maintaining discipline and attendance among the student clientele.

Assists the other building administrators in the overall day to day operations of the school.

Assist parent, faculty, and student groups as requested by the principal in advancing educational and related activities and objectives. 

Directs and assists in planning social, recreational, and curricular programs.

Counsels or advises individuals and groups on matters pertaining to personal problems, educational and vocational objectives, social and recreational activities, and financial assistance.

Attends school functions, curricular, extra- curricular activities, and athletic activities, as often as possible or as requested by the principal. 

Reviews reports of student misconduct cases that require disciplinary action to insure recommendations conform to university policies.

Assists in the evaluation of staff.

Share supervision responsibilities for curricular, extra-curricular activities, and athletic events are requested. 
Supervises the control of discipline problems and confers with parents, staff, counselors, and students to bring about need adjustments.

Supervises student behavior during the lunch period.
Sponsors and advises student organizations.

Reviews budget and directs appropriations of student services unit.

Also directs admissions, foreign student services, health services, student union, and testing services.

Recommends to the principal cases requiring suspension. 

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Directly supervises 1-3 Secretaries. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience 

Master's degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
