SUMMARY:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) evaluates nursing practices, develops methodologies and implements standards of care, and assesses and addresses patient and staff educational needs. May provide formal or informal education, in area of specialty, for nursing staff. Will utilize comprehensive knowledge of clinical theory, practice, and new concepts in area of specialty to serve as a resource to nursing staff. Researches, develops, coordinates, and facilitates new concepts, principles and nursing methodologies in area of specialty.
Rochester General Hospital is a 528-bed tertiary care hospital that has been serving the residents of the Rochester Region and beyond since 1847. Rochester General Hospital offers primary medical care and a broad range of specialties. Rochester General Hospital’s medical staff includes over 1,000 primary care physicians and specialists, many of whom have offices at the hospital and throughout the community.

ATTRIBUTES
Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Graduate of a clinical nurse specialist education program registered by NYSED or meet alternative education or experience criteria acceptable to NYSED.
Minimum 4 years of clinical experience preferred.
Teaching/Instructing experience preferred.
Current registration and licensed as a registered professional nurse (RN) in New York State.
Certified and registered as a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) by the New York State Education Department (NYSED)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
PAY RANGE: $80,000.00 - $140,000.00
