Detailed Job Description
Planning/Executing Fall/Spring Orientation programming
  • Organize and manage all aspects of the Summer Vestibule Program (SVP) and Spring Semester orientation, including curriculum, program development, planning, implementation and evaluation to enhance student learning and persistence. Requires access to sensitive information found in NTID Admissions/OnBase, RIT's Student Information Systems (SIS), student's placement testing data, etc.
  • Oversee the implementation of the SVP schedule/programming and integration with RIT Orientation programming for students entering Fall/Spring semesters. Responds to input from committees and various partners/stakeholders within the university at large
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student and Academic Services to plan/manage the SVP budget/expenditures that support overall program operations
  • Collaborate with the Summer Transition Education Program to plan/manage supporting students in both programs, and develop long-term strategies for transitioning first year students into NTID/RIT
  • Consult and collaborate with NTID faculty, staff, and administration and other various offices at RIT such as RIT Housing Operations to promote student success and persistence by means of a strong orientation program. Supervise/collaborate with the NTID Student Life Team to hire and train student Orientation Assistants to assist in the overall Fall/Spring orientation program and help with housing arrangements for student orientation assistants
Supporting Freshman Seminar, College Restoration Program and Academic Support Center: strategic planning, curriculum development, teach classes, workshops, connecting students to campus resources.
  • Provide assistance to Freshman Seminar, the NTID Academic Support Center, and NTID College restoration programs including but not limited to, designing curriculum and modules, teaching course sections, and meeting with students one-on-one to connect them to proper resources on campus.
  • Attend trainings and serve as a Student Conduct Advocate to assist students navigating the conduct process (https://www.rit.edu/studentlife/student-conduct/conduct-advocate-program).
  • Attend training, workshops, webinars on best practices in assessment and curriculum development for transitioning students to college life
Coordinating and communicating with NTID departments and other campus leaders across summer programs for incoming and first year students

Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelors degree: Project Management, Education, Student Affairs, Business, or related field
  • Minimum three years in higher education working with Deaf students as program coordinator, logistics coordination, direct support to managers or administrators leading campus programming, OR serving as director or program developer for student life programs.
Skills:
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to manage multiple faculty, staff and students in an organized, efficient and timely manner
  • Ability to manage a large and complex budget efficiently
  • Time management and supervisory skills
  • Verbal, written, sign language skills, including or at least an intermediate plus level, or have the ability and willingness to acquire such skills within two years
  • Handle complex confidential information such as RITs Student Information System/Student Records, OnBase, Maxient, Public Safety/Student Conduct reports.
