Detailed Job Description
Please be advised this position requires a willingness to work flexible hours - travel and some evening hours will be required.
  • Coordinates the academic services that each VUB participant receives
  • Teaches college preparation and refresher courses for adults who are participating in the program focusing on math, reading, composition, literature and computer skills.
  • Facilitates academic skills preparation and resources needed to help veteran participants successfully enroll in post-secondary education
  • Meets 1-1 and also in groups with veteran participants to deliver academic services
  • Assists with administrative duties including maintaining database and record keeping
  • Live our values, embrace diverse perspectives, and nurture the RIT community to remain a great place to work for all.
Administration:
  • Maintain accurate records of participant activities and attendance.
  • Monitor progress of project participants.
  • Assist with maintaining the project's focus on achieving program objectives.
  • Adhere to deadlines and regulations regarding required project documentation, reports, data collection, and forms.
  • Use student database and ensure all new student information is entered into the system and the corresponding spreadsheet
  • Coordinate with VUB Advisors and Director in implementing each participant's Individualized Academic Plan (IAP).Assist the Veterans Upward Bound Director in evaluating program activities

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least one year of related professional experience working in adult education or with low-income individuals/families, first-generation students or veterans.
  • Ability to work independently and comply with program guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite as evidenced by application materials.
  • Experience in working with adults individually and/or in groups.
  • Experience working with low-income or first-generation populations, working in program development/management and experience working in TRiO or similar projects is desired.
PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy. (see Page 4) Reliable transportation and a valid drivers license, as this position requires travel
