Rochester Cornerstone Group is Hiring an Affordable Housing Community Support Specialist (FT) Near Buffalo, NY

Job Title: Affordable Housing Community Support Specialist, Buffalo Region.
Reports to: Director of Training and Staff Development.
Earnings Status: Exempt.
Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 annually based on experience.
Work Location: Buffalo.
Position Overview:
  • The Community Support Specialist will assist with the training of new RCG employees in the Buffalo area.
  • The primary focus is on applicable property management software and company procedures
  • The employee will provide support to the site staff by working with them on-site and may fill in at properties when needed.
  • The Community Support Specialist works with all staff while promoting the company mission, values, and culture, as well as acting with the highest level of ethical decision-making at all times.
Essential Functions:
Onboarding:
  • Works in collaboration with Human Resources and the Director of Training and Staff Development to onboard new employees as outlined in the company Onboarding Procedure. 
  • Ensures new site employees are equipped with all necessary tools and supplies to perform the essential functions of their positions.
  • Acts as a liaison between regional/site managers and employees, ensuring onboarding checkpoints are met and evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
Training:
  • Assists in the training of new employees on company software and procedures.
  • Assists site employees with basic operational questions or directs them to other staff (Director of Facilities, Director of Training and Staff Development, Compliance Team, etc.).
  • Works with employees to ensure timely completion of all applicable training.
  • Trains staff to manage resident functions in such a manner as to maintain the respect and goodwill of all residents.
  • Works in collaboration with Operations and Director of Training and Staff Development to facilitate and promote safety training, emergency procedures protocols, and a “safety first” culture.
Site Operations:
  • Assists in new property acquisitions and lease-ups.
  • Assists regional/site managers in new office setup.
  • Makes site visits to assist employees with special projects and operational needs as needed.
  • Conducts occasional routine site inspections including files and office operations.
  • Assists site staff ensuring that all customer complaints are handled promptly and appropriately.
  • Ensures consistent, respectful, and professional communications to residents as required.
  • Effectively, respectfully, and professionally partners with all staff at all times.
Supervisory/Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Models leadership and leads by example. 
  • No supervisory responsibilities are required except for those which may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
  • Is committed to ongoing principles of creating diverse, equitable, and inclusive strategies when collaborating with employees, and partners, and engaging with residents.
Mental and Physical Demands:
  • Experiences frequent interruptions; required to meet inflexible deadlines; requires concentration and attention to detail; requires ability to problem-solve; requires a high level of organization and prioritization skills.
  • Requires ability to maintain confidentiality of information received.
  • Requires frequent travel (day trips to sites).
  • Required to sit for prolonged periods; exposed to a visual display terminal for prolonged periods; dexterity and precision required in the operation of a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience of RealPage OneSite experience is required.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in Affordable Housing Management experience required.
  • Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) preferred.
  • C3P Tax Credit and LIHTC certification are preferred.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, conflict resolution, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook (Office 365) and have the ability to effectively navigate the Internet.
  • Must be experienced in OneSite property management software. 
  • Knowledge of financial operations and budgeting is required.
  • Ability to manage a flexible schedule and remain available for property emergencies.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and NYS vehicle insurance.
  • Required use of personal cell phone.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and commits to promoting company mission, values, and culture.
