    FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF UNIT:
    The person in this role will be responsible for supporting Restorative Practices across the Rochester City School District. Focus will be on providing assistance and guidance to schools through the development and implementation of restorative practices. Increasing capacity through, educational training, coaching/mentoring and leadership development for students and staff, applying research based support systems/tools and reflectively planning with schools. The ROC Restorative Team Member will work in collaboration with students, parents, teachers, school administrators and all members of the school community to support restorative practices, promoting relationship and community building. Other functions of this position will include representing and supporting restorative practices at meetings, forums, consultations, district/community events and other engagements.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Assist with the development and implementation of restorative practices and school teams across the RCSD
    • Coordinate and support a positive, restorative climate and approach to discipline at the school and districtwide levels
    • Refine and support practices by way of the following circle types: relationship and community-building, social-emotional support/learning, racial justice, peer mediation and mentoring, response to harm, among other restorative circles as specific needs arise
    • Integrate restorative approaches and resources related to enrichment, health, and behavior into school structures, staffing, forums, and other access points, such as after school programs, sports teams, targeted events in school, student leadership councils, and the work of counselors, social workers, psychologists and other support staff
    • Develop, participate in and facilitate audience specific restorative training and education for students, parents, staff and other stakeholders
    • Build relationships and coordinate youth and parent leadership in the process of planning and implementing Restorative Practices in the schools
    • Develop and maintain a common set of indicators and protocols for collecting and monitoring data to help understand the implementation, progress, and effectiveness of restorative practices.
    • Collaborate with District staff regarding program activities, workshop sessions, events and other engagements (i.e., book studies, circles, discussion forums, panels, PD, etc.)
    • Routinely analyze data to assist utilizing effective strategies and methodologies
    • Should have knowledge of the learning and social/emotional behavioral needs and goals of our school community, within a trauma-informed, culturally relevant inclusive community of practice.
    • Other responsibilities as they arise due to necessity and as indicated by the Director of School Culture and Climate.
    • Facilitate and support tier 3 mediations at the Restorative H.U.B.
    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION:
    • RCSD Social Worker, School Counselor, or Teacher
    • Certified Social Worker or Teacher
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching or facilitating, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs
    • Experience and training in restorative practices preferred
    • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback
    • Ability in using student-level data to guide instructional, educational and restorative decisions
    • Demonstrated Teacher Leadership
    • Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise in restorative practices
    • Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication
    • Strong interpersonal skills navigating conflict and collaboration
    • Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students achieve
    • Demonstrates evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities
