Your application must reflect that you possess the required qualifications for the position.POSITION SUMMARYUnder the direction of a Radiologist, administers ionizing radiation to patients producing diagnostic radiographs at technical level requiring no constant supervision of technical detail. The technologist will perform a variety of procedures that will require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. The individual must be able to meet the needs of patients of all ages physically, socially, emotionally, and culturally.Position Duties and Responsibilities Leadership:
  • Knowledge of mission and vision statement.
  • Maintains compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws, and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Participate in the department’s performance improvement program and improvement of the department processes to meet the customer’s needs.
  • Practices methods to ensure good rapport and cooperative working relationships with all members of the Diagnostic Imaging department, physicians, and all other employees of Rochelle Community Hospital.
  • Continuously identifies processes to improve and participate in team activities when requested. May also be responsible for specific performance improvement and quality control areas designated by manager.
  • Maintains mandatory educational requirements based JCAHO, IDPH, and OSHA standards.
  • Follows the Service Excellence Standards of Behavior at all times.
Job Standards A. Technical Duties - Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures according to department policies and utilizing accepted techniques for patient positioning, exposure controls, and radiation protection, knowledgeable of growth and development of all ages and uses appropriate techniques for such.
  • Uses film markers correctly and consistently and uses proper collimations for all procedures.
  • Send images successfully to PACS.
  • Know how to use the PACS system to burn CD’s and help physicians in locating images when necessary.
  • Prepares contrast media for administration. Will be instructed on how to start IVs for the proper administration of contrast media.
  • Handles equipment in a responsible, professional manner.
  • Report equipment failures to manager immediately after incident occurs.
B. Patient Duties - Maintains a positive and professional atmosphere for patients by reassuring and comforting patients, who may be under physical and emotional stress.
  • Prepare patients for examination by explaining procedure that will be done. (Every attempt will be made to use the Language line or find an interpreter for patients of different nationalities.)
  • Transfer patients properly utilizing equipment available to minimize back injuries.
  • Monitors patient’s condition during exams and reports unusual occurrences to the manager, radiologist, or ordering physician.
  • Provides immobilization devices as required.
  • Provides patient with proper radiation shielding.
  • Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.
  • Provides care to patients of all ages with consideration given to normal characteristics of growth and development throughout the life span.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
C. Clerical Duties - Perform a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary.
  • Answers phone and schedules patients for procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains adequate patient records and files in PACS and the EHR as directed.
  • Copy CDs upon the request of physician or patient from PACS system.
  • When necessary, changes orders, cancels orders, charges exams, enters procedures, & reprints requisition on computer system.
  • Scans in all necessary documents into PACS system for necessary review by the Radiologist, example: Consent forms and Telerad Preliminary reports.
 General/Personal Duties - Prepares exam rooms, equipment, accessories and materials as needed for various procedures.
    • Maintains orderliness, cleanliness, and safety in the department.
    • Secures and returns supplies; maintains stock in rooms; informs manager of supply levels.
    • Maintains professional appearance adhering to dress and grooming policy.
    • Cooperates with all hospital personnel in a positive and professional manner.
    • Rotates with other shifts as necessary.
    • Utilizes time wisely and establishes priorities.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology program.
  • Current A.R.R.T. and I.D.N.S. license. Graduates must be board eligible and have a temporary I.D.N.S. license.
  • Responsible for acquiring 24 hours of continuing education hours every 2 years.
  • Previous experience not required.
  • Specialized Technologist.
    1. Mammography-Certification by A.R.R.T or meet MQSA technologist requirements.
    2. CAT Scan-Certification by A.R.R.T. or specialized training-in-house or applications to personnel provided by vendor.
Job Essential Functions
  • Reasonably anticipated occupational exposure to blood, blood-borne pathogens, and other potentially infectious materials.

  • Visual and hearing acuity with/without corrective devices.
  • Job may require potential exposure to chemical/hazardous materials.
  • Requires potential for exposure to an environmental hazard of radiation.
  • Knowledge of cultural, religious, and spiritual assessment.
  • Knowledge of abuse/neglect.
  • Requires of performance of highly complex and various tasks during emergency situations requiring independent knowledge and judgment.
