The Opportunity

This position is based in Indianapolis, IN, on site, part-time, with an 8 months length (August 2024 - April 2025).

As an integral member of a team, you will contribute to the development and completion of S.T.E.M. projects that vary in size and complexity. You will work under the direction of a team leader or director.

Chemistry

• Participate in laboratory work with a concentration on experience projects based on analytical chemistry.
• Assist in the development and analysis of blood glucose test strips manufactured at Roche.
• Areas of analysis include scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical microscopy, rheology, gas chromatography, mass spectroscopy (MS), and product performance testing.

Development Strategy & Product Definition

• Work both autonomously and with others on requirements engineering projects.
• Investigate and drive further simplification of current processes.
• Develop guidance documentation to align department procedures.

Human Factors

• Research Human Factors concepts for medical application.
• Analyze and collate data to assist in ensuring a good fit between people and the medical devices they rely on.
• Collaborate with other Human Factors specialists as you evaluate collected data to achieve target project goals.

R&D Exploratory Research Specialist

• Research potential concepts, solution and implementation strategies for innovative medical concepts.
• Gain exposure to research methodologies, internal pipeline contributions, and hypothesize future implementation opportunities.
• Should enjoy open-ended and ambiguous problem solving and evidence-based decision making.
• Collaborate with specialist to achieve target project goals.

Customer Returns & Investigate Unit

• Apply mathematical skill sets to support project trending analyses.
• Investigate systems and associated data on customer grievances.
• Collaborate with Roche Investigative Unit specialists to achieve target goals.

R&D Software Verification

• Work both autonomously and with others on engineering projects with the goal of achieving an understanding of life cycle software engineering.
• Solicit and document requirements from stakeholders.
• Research and compare supported applications within the Roche ecosystem.
• Design and develop a data housing/storage system for values from the Roche ecosystem.

Who You Are

• Indianapolis-based, Lawrence North high school senior (during the time of the internship) with a 2.8 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale.

• Prior knowledge, interest, and engagement in related STEM studies and professional fields with an emphasis on engineering and information technology.

• Proficient in the application of goal setting, study skills, time management.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships that foster a positive team environment.

• You are responsible and possess discipline and determination. You are focused; a planner who likes to achieve and improve.

• Active participation within a STEM-focused program with an emphasis on academic achievement, hands-on pre-engineering projects, experiential learning, and professional development.
