Robotic Research is Hiring a Senior Perception Software Engineer - LIDAR Focus Near Clarksburg, MD

Position Responsibilities: 

The Senior Perception Software Engineer - LIDAR Focuswill be responsible for…

  • Designing and developing state-of-the-art software to support perception awareness, objection detection, object classification, sensor calibration methods, and simultaneous multi-object tracking in the LIDAR domain
  • Designing and field perception algorithms in real world conditions
  • Supporting perception efforts across robots deployed in various locations around the world
  • Implementing, tuning, and testing novel algorithms to enhance components such as filtering, segmentation, object classification, terrain classification, clustering, and tracking

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong proficiency in programming skills (e.g. C , python)
  • Experience in developing real-time robotic algorithms 
  • Theoretical understanding of object detection, segmentation, probabilistic algorithms, optimization, and/or deep learning

Education and Experience: 

  • Master’s or PhD in computer science, robotics, or related field, or with equivalent industrial experience
  • 2 years of similar academic and/or professional working experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Hands-on experiences on autonomous vehicles or ground wheel robots, especially those deployed in urban environments.
  • Experience with standard 3D point cloud manipulation techniques 
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art state estimation and tracking algorithms 
  • Experience with any open-source deep learning frameworks
