Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Irrigation Technician plays a vital role in the daily upkeep of the golf course by overseeing watering operations and maintaining irrigation systems. They are responsible for monitoring and adjusting water levels to ensure optimal turf health and course conditions. Additionally, they perform repairs and upkeep on irrigation pipes and sprinklers as needed. Working independently and without direct supervision, they handle a variety of tasks related to irrigation maintenance and construction, including semi-skilled work and other duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

  • Conducts regular maintenance checks on irrigation systems within designated areas, ensuring proper function and efficiency
  • Cleans and adjusts sprinkler heads as necessary to maintain optimal coverage, promptly replacing or repairing any damaged equipment
  • Sets and verifies timers/clocks to guarantee accurate irrigation scheduling and promptly addresses all irrigation-related requests
  • Executes additional golf course maintenance tasks as directed by the Superintendent, contributing to overall course upkeep and appearance
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

 KEY COMPETENCIES:

1. Customer Service Skills: Proficient in providing outstanding service to guests and residents, ensuring their needs are met with excellence

2. Effective Communication: Ability to convey information clearly and persuasively to individuals and groups of customers or associates

3. Adaptability: Capable of applying common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in various formats, whether written, oral, or diagram form

4. Problem-Solving Abilities: Skilled in addressing challenges that may arise, particularly those involving multiple variables in standardized situations

5. Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in operating and maintaining irrigation systems, including repairs and adjustments as needed

6. Attention to Detail: Meticulous in performing tasks related to monitoring and maintaining irrigation equipment to ensure proper function and coverage

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to two years of relevant experience in irrigation system maintenance, repair, or similar field.
  • Familiarity with landscaping or golf course maintenance practices is advantageous.
  • Experience operating irrigation equipment such as sprinklers, pipes, and controllers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and practices in a work environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Constantly stand, walk, push, pull, lift grasp, bend and kneel; Frequently use arms and hands
  • Manual dexterity for using golf equipment
  • Clear vision and hearing to communicate effectively
  • Capability to lift up and carry up to 20 pounds
  • Depending on the season, there is a possibility of encountering cold temperatures, heat, humidity, rain, and cold temperatures.
