Robert C. Byrd Clinic is Hiring a Pediatric Social Worker Near Lewisburg, WV

The Robert C. Byrd Clinic, on the campus of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, is seeking a full-time Licensed Pediatric Social Worker (LCSW or LICSW).

Position Purpose:

Provide direct social work services in a clinical setting, focusing on patient advocacy, supportive counseling, and coordination of care. Educate patients, parents, clinic staff, and medical students about the psychosocial aspects impacting care and resources available to meet their needs. Identify resources which can assist with basic and medical needs of patients.

Position Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work (MSW) from a Council of Social Work Education accredited program.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver compassionate care to patients and families.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, nursing staff, and external organizations.
  • Strong communication skills, bother verbal and written, with a keen ability to listen attentively.
  • Team-oriented mindset with excellent organizational abilities.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of MSW-level experience required.
  • Previous experience in a medical setting preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Current State WV license to practice as an LCSW or LICSW.

Reports to: Director of Nursing

Supervises: Non-supervisory

Job Requirements:

  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
  • Serve as a client advocate, coordinating necessary services and resolving crisis situations.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive list of available behavioral health services and community resources for at-risk families, covering all ages and insurance types.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team at RCBC (i.e., Social Workers, Pharmacist, etc.) to connect patients to relevant programs and resources.
  • Attend resource fairs to identify community resources for children and caregivers.
  • Maintain access to coupon programs for infant formulas, medications, and medical equipment.
  • Assist parents of children with special health conditions in completing the “WV Children with Special Healthcare Needs” application and accessing additional resources.
  • Participate in the Multidisciplinary Investigation Team for Greenbrier County.
  • Serve as a primary resource for various pediatric needs, including psychological education testing for homeschooling patients, as well as testing and diagnostics for patients with autism symptoms.
  • Assist parents with acquiring and applying for insurance as necessary for at risk populations.
  • Collaborate with local support systems to enhance service distribution.
  • Monitor patients facing school truancy, homebound status, and verification of doctor excuses.
  • Provide resources and support to grandparents and other caregivers regarding their legal rights, assisting with necessary documentation for patient charts.
  • Connect families who are providing foster care for clinic patients with required resources.
  • Facilitate agency referrals including WIC, CPS, Mountain Heart, Communities in Schools, etc.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client treatment records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
