    Monday through Thursday 9:00am-2:00pm HyFlex class (delivered in person and online simultaneously), paid prep, 30 minute unpaid lunch
    Position begins Fall 2024
    Appendix G of the teacher bargaining unit
    Reports to the Adult Academic Program Director
    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Chooses and/or designs instructional activities relevant to adult students’ level and goals.
    • Masters skills and content required for successful and culturally relevant teaching.
    • Builds rapport between staff and students.
    • Maintains accurate student and program records as directed by Program Director.
    • Provides small group, computer and one-on-one instruction.
    • Administers pre and post testing according to schedule.
    • Assists in organizing and publicizing accessible, integrated instructional service for adults in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Education plan for adult basic education.
    • Assists adult learners in developing and fulfilling appropriate learning plans (Personal Education Plan).
    • Works as a member of the professional team, planning and implementing services.
    • Directs the daily activities of assigned support staff and volunteers in accordance with established policy.
    • Interacts positively and respectfully with all students and staff.
    • Gives input on program and site planning and implementation.
    • Respects confidentiality.
    • Other duties as assigned
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Holds a current Minnesota teaching license or a bachelor's or master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), applied linguistics, or bilingual education. Certification in one or more of the following areas is preferred: ABE, ESL, English, foreign language, elementary education or reading.
    • Has had successful teaching experience.
    • Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
    • Works cooperatively in a professional teaching team.
    • Demonstrated success interacting with persons from differing ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds.
    • Has the flexibility to teach a constantly changing student population.
    • Is open to new educational practices including HyFlex (teaching face-to-face and online simultaneously).
    • Incorporates educational technology into instruction.
