Special Education Paraprofessional
Full-Time Ready for the World SpEd Paraprofessional
will be responsible for providing training and supervision of Transitional Domain Skills development for disabled young adults enrolled in the Roaring Fork School District’s Transition Program, Ready For The World (RFTW). This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) special education paraprofessional position. The RFSD Ready for the World Program (RFTW) works to transition young adults 18 to 21 into the world of employment, learning and independence. Enrolled young adults work on education/training, vocational/job skills, independent living skills, recreation leisure skills, and community/social skills. Coaches assist these aspiring young adults in their various experiences, activities and/or tasks, as well as skill development.
Primary Duties
  • With the Transition Program Coordinator’s assistance, the Job Coach assists in developing,
implementing, and monitoring young adult programming.
  • Assists young adult in developing and maintaining skills to be independent as is
appropriate.
  • Acts as a liaison between the employer(s); RFSD/RFTW staff; the young adult’s IEP team
members by providing necessary information to all.
  • Rides and sometimes drives mini bus to transport students to site location during the day, including before & after school
  • Conduct task analysis and job analysis.
  • Fit the kind and amount of instruction to the young adult’s learning style. Instruction may
consist of but not limited to: verbal instruction, writing lists for the young adult, putting
color-coded markers on a list corresponding to markers on objects in the work environment,
pictorial, and/or role modeling.
  • Implement fading techniques when appropriate by gradually withdrawing support.
  • Be an advocate for the young adult.
  • Teach the young adult appropriate work behaviors and interpersonal skills.
  • Transport students (via district provided transportation) to and from the program, and during the school day.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EducationEligibility Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
LicenseThe ability to obtain and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License and candidates must pass a background check by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
SALARY RANGE AND DAYS WORKEDHourly range: $20.94-$25.48/hour, depending on qualified experience
Days worked: 185 days/year (with paid personal time, paid vacation days, and paid time off for holidays and district non-work days such as during winter break and spring breaks)
