Position Summary:

Develop quotes for projects put out to bid by state and local agencies and submit to contractors for consideration. Develop strong customer relations. Negotiate post-bid awards. Build and maintain positive customer relationships with contractors, agencies, and clients.

Essential Functions:

• Work with BM/DVP on changing focus from price proposals to value proposals when and where appropriate
• Build customer relationships by getting out to see customers, not just sending them price quotes
• Be part time estimator and part time sales person, wear two hats
• Review letting schedules and provide feedback to BM, DVP regarding unique or large potential opportunities months in advance when possible
• Develop bidding strategy through discussions with BM/DVP to determine what type of work we should be bidding, where we should be bidding and with what resources. Involve Ops in bid.
• Schedule and participate in bid review calls, including cash flows on larger projects
• Work with finance to ensure compliance with state and local tax laws, pre quals, etc
• Complete the monthly Bid Pipeline report and submit timely to BM
• When project size or complexity out match your skill or scope, involve other estimators, other BMs/DMs and other Districts
• Participate in industry events, organizations, etc. to build our business and networking opportunities

Requirements:

• College degree in business (accounting or finance) or 2 years of experience in estimating road construction projects or similar experience is required
• Excellent computer skills
• Proven ability communicating to internal and external customers
