Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico is Hiring a Supply Chain Manager (On-Site) Near Albuquerque, NM

This position manages the purchased and donated supply chain for Roadrunner Food Bank (RRFB) and its partner agencies and network through the sourcing, logistics, and administrative paperwork and financial reconciliation of purchased and donated food loads. While adhering to all aspects of the Feeding America Partner Food Bank Agreement, this position will source food loads for purchase locally, regionally, and nationally and will seek donations within the service area of Roadrunner Food Bank through sourcing activities. The Position will also work in partnership with the Director of Produce Sourcing to manage and support the procurement of fresh produce loads for RRFB. By nurturing strong relationships with current food industry businesses and by building new relationships, the supply chain Manager will ensure an increase in the cost-effective acquisition of quality food for Roadrunner Food Bank and its hunger-relief network. Please Note: This position is based in Albuquerque and is not a remote position.

Primary Responsibilities

· Sources food loads for purchase locally, regionally, and nationally and seeks food donations within the service area of Roadrunner Food Bank while adhering to all aspects of the Feeding America Partner Food Bank Agreement.

· Conducts face-to-face visits, meetings, and presentations with current and prospective food businesses to acquire food for the Roadrunner Food Bank hunger-relief network.

· Works closely with the RRFB President and CEO’s Strategic Support Team in the development of the RRFB Strategic Food Program.

· Develops and maintains a comprehensive long-range plan for obtaining donated and purchased food products to support RRFB programs.

· Manages food purchasing budget complying with all reporting requirements and ensuring solid fiscal stewardship.

· Maintains positive internal working relationships and acts as a positive strategic partner to individuals, community partners, and business associates.

· Establishes and maintains positive relationships with food industry donors and sourcing partners.

· Generates reports to measure key program activities and provide data and metrics to facilitate the evaluation of food sourcing activities of the food bank.

· Creates relationships with national partners to promote and facilitate sharing across the nationwide Feeding America hunger-relief network.

· Manages the offering of excess food loads, including produce loads in the Feeding America MealConnect system—both outgoing and incoming loads.

· Upholds food safety procedures, and supports RRFB Operations with product traceability and recalls as needed.

· Maintains awareness of market trends, technology and food safety best practices.

· Ensures donor recognition and the creation of promotional materials as needed.

· Stays current on local, regional, and national industry trends and attends relevant conferences, trade shows, and events.

· Stays informed about hunger and hunger-relief efforts in New Mexico and nationally.

· Develops annual work plans which include budget projections, performance metrics, strategies, and goals.

· Regularly participates in RRFB organization-wide strategy meetings and activities.

· Monitors and forecasts inventory procurement needs for various RRFB programs.

· Coordinates the logistics and administrative reconciliation of fresh produce purchases to comply with programmatic and general warehouse needs.

· Facilitates all aspects of order processing and delivery, including creation of POs and item numbers in CERES; communications with vendors, freight carriers, and RRFB Receiving, Transportation, and Warehouse staff.

· Monitors and verifies accuracy of inventory-related data in CERES, including cost and quantities received, and ensures that postings are allocated to the appropriate accounts, divisions, and projects.

· Performs invoice and bill-of-lading reconciliation to facilitate payment of sourced produce and other food loads.

· Ensures all food purchasing grant deadlines are met and tracks all food purchasing grants.

· Provides monthly donor reports, completes Blue receipting to Feeding America, and supports and facilitates CERES transactions for direct produce deliveries to agency partners.

· Supports MealConnect platform for partner agency reporting of pounds, for the posting of excess produce loads to the national network, and for the procurement of food loads for RRFB.

· Supports the Grocery Rescue Program in partnership with the Sr. Director of Sourcing.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Experience with supply chain management and food procurement and logistics, preferably with a food bank, or equivalent other experience and the ability to learn these job functions.

· Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams and amongst diverse people and groups.

· Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with the public.

· Ability to think strategically and to resolve problems; strong strategic planning, organizational, and negotiating skills and comprehensive experience in customer service management required.

· Computer literacy and data entry skills required. CERES experience preferred.

· Knowledge of food safety and proper food storage and handling techniques.

· Ability to travel statewide up to 25% of the time.

· Current and valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required.

Physical Environment

· This job is performed in a variety of spaces, including an office and food warehouse facilities (both indoor and outdoor).

· Travel (up to 25%) is required using a personal vehicle or company-provided vehicle.

· Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

· Extensive computer operation with repetitive finger movement.

· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

· Occasional exposure to weather conditions including heat, cold, wet and/or humid conditions.

· Noise level is typically moderate.
