Since 1971, we have supplied equipment, parts, and laundry repair services to vended laundries, hotels, nursing homes, hospitals, fire departments, correctional facilities, and many others. Currently headquartered in Kansas City, we also have team members in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Minneapolis / St Paul MN, Des Moines IA, St Louis MO, Springfield MO and Tulsa OK. Currently, we are looking for a qualified & highly motivated individual to join our team in Kansas City as a laundry equipment installer.

What You Will Do:

The primary duties of an Installation Technician will be to properly install commercial laundry equipment and/or accessories at a customer’s location. An installer will be responsible for installing the equipment (small or large) within the customer’s guidelines while adhering to the manufacturer’s specifications. Our Kansas City installation team covers a large territory including Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Southern Iowa, and Western Missouri. With such a large territory, this position requires frequent overnight travel, and you must have a flexible schedule (No weekends or holidays). RJ Kool does pay per diem and lodging for overnight travel.

  • Operating a commercial motor vehicle in a safe manner and maintaining compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Safely rigging and moving equipment in and out of customer locations.
  • Safely and properly using hand and power tools to install the equipment as required and making final utility connections to the equipment (i.e. – electrical supply, water supply, drains, exhaust ducting, & gas lines).
  • Programming equipment as required and communicating with the customer and staff on the proper use and care of equipment.
  • Using a field service mobile app to view your schedule & document your work.
  • Maintaining and restocking inventory and non-inventory supplies.
  • Safely operating forklifts, pallet jacks, & hand dollies to move the equipment, load and unload trucks and trailers.
  • Following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Required Skills:

  • Must pass a criminal and motor vehicle background check (for the purposes of working in government facilities), as well as a drug screening if requested.
  • Must hold a Class E Driver’s License and DOT Medical Card (or can obtain within the first 30 days from hire date).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to think outside of the box with common sense.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve issues that arise while on the job.
  • Must possess basic plumbing and electrical skills.
  • Ability to lift 100lbs or more.
  • Must be able to provide your own basic hand and power tools.
  • You must promote a professional image and attitude.

Other Valuable Experience we take into Consideration:

  • Experience rigging and/or moving large equipment/material.
  • Single & three phase electrical experience and ability to read a multi/voltmeter.
  • HVAC Experience.
  • Ability to operate a forklift or other machinery.
