Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our team and teach Chemistry this summer during the second session. The dates are July 9th- July 25th (3 weeks) with school held on Tues/Wed/Thurs from 9:00-2:30.
As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for creating an engaging and interactive learning environment for students, fostering their curiosity and love for science. You will teach and provide a Chemistry course to help ensure a few students (3-5) will graduate on time.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with a Chemistry curriculum and educational standards
- Conduct laboratory experiments and demonstrations to enhance students' understanding of scientific concepts
- Provide academic advising to students regarding course selection and career paths in the field of science
- Offer tutoring support to students who require additional assistance in understanding scientific principles
- Evaluate student performance through assessments, exams, and projects
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe learning environment for all students
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- Valid teaching certification or license in Science Education is preferred, but an emergency license for a certified teacher is an option
- Proven experience teaching science subjects at the middle school or high school level
- Knowledge of the subject
- Proficient in using laboratory equipment and conducting experiments
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to effectively proofread educational materials
- Experience in academic advising and providing tutoring support to students
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques to create an inclusive learning environment
- Knowledge of mathematics subjects such as geometry and algebra is a plus
We offer competitive compensation ($25.00 -$35.00 per hour) based on qualifications and experience.
