SUMMARY:
Reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Leadership and Accountability and is responsible for assisting the district in the day-to-day operations of the schools and administering alternative education.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the district's alternative education programs.
  • Serves as the district's hearing officer.
  • Reviews and revises the district discipline handbooks as needed.
  • Provides administrative support to the high school as needed.
  • Assists the district in providing the educational leadership to create and maintain a school atmosphere which supports and encourages the personal growth of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Supports teachers in maintaining instructional focus and improving student achievement.
  • Supervises students, teachers, and auxiliary personnel employed in the assigned building.
  • Assists the principal in administering the District’s policies, goals, and directives.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a positive school climate.
  • Assists in the development of curriculum and special programs that meet the needs of the diverse student body.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a positive discipline program in the school.
  • Effectively manages discipline issues, including ensuring compliance with district/state regulatory processes investigating issues, determining consequences, communicating with parents and entering discipline information into the Student Information System.
  • Responsible for assisting and supervising school level cafeteria, custodial, and maintenance operations as well as transportation duties related to the beginning and dismissal of the school day.
  • Assists in after school event supervision and building access.
  • Serve as the liaison for the principal with various community agencies.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the equipment and textbook inventories.
  • Assists in the development of the school master schedule and the school master calendar.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above noted essential duties satisfactorily.   • Current Principal’s certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, at the secondary level required.
  • Master’s Degree in Education or Teaching required.
  • Minimum five years of successful teaching experience required.
  • Experience as an educational administrator preferred.
  • Experience in alternative education required.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, colleagues, school groups, and community organizations.
  • Knowledge of school reform strategies, curriculum, and data analysis.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills.
  • Successful completion of background check by Human Resources.
