Summary:

The Dialysis Patient Care Tech functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a registered nurse and in compliance with organizational, state, and federal agencies. Responsibilities include the set up and operation of the hemodialysis machines. Assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean working environment. Supports the organization's commitment to high quality and effective care including those related to patient satisfaction and improvement activities.

Responsibilities:

• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques
• Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
• Maintains a cooperative relationship among all health care members involved with the patients by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
• Maintains clinical supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality and protects operations in accordance with HIPAA laws.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
Collects and documents accurately ALL required clinical patient information during rooming process within guidelines of regulatory agency, health maintenance and other quality measures.
