Summary:

The Activities Director for Riverside Senior Living Communities (SLC) is responsible for the oversight of all activity programming at the Bourbonnais Grove and Westwood campuses. In this leadership role, the Activities Director manages a team, as well as coordinates all experience offerings, which enhances the senior living experience. Additional responsibilities include budget, supply procuerment, personnel management, activity planning and coordinating, activity promotion and resident communication. This position reports to the Executive Director and is an integral member of the SLC leadership team and ensures the delivery of quality programming for all residents. The positions ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal requirements.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • One year of applicable experience in Senior Service or related field
  • Prior management/supervisory experience preferred

License/Certification:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Driving record in good standing
  • CPR

Responsibilities:

  • Actively manages and leads the activities teams at Westwood and Bourbonnais Grove campuses, including: recruitment and retention, performance management, scheduling, employee development, employee competency, coaching and feedback
  • Effectively manages the experience team to ensure fulfillment of the lifestyle needs of seniors within the community
  • Develop monthly Calendar of Events that provide meaningful programs, spiritual opportunities, personalized experiences, and other topics of interest for residents
  • Coordinates multiple departments during large social events
  • Provides ongoing training and support for residents, employees and families
  • Selects, trains, schedules, supervises, and regularly evaluates activities and driver staff to assure highest standard of performance
  • Collaborates with staff and clinicians to understand the ways in which activities can promote healing and belonging with a personalized touch
  • Assists with the annual budget preparation
  • Is responsible for ordering, purchasing supplies with the budget constraints
  • Compiles monthly report which outlines successes, constraints, and opportunities
  • Leads, creates, prepares, facilitates and executes activity programs
  • Develop programming that adds to the strategic goals of RSLC including, but not limited to: census development, retention of residents, and the fiscal health of the community
  • Functions as an effective leadership team member by collaborating with other departments
  • Partner with clinical staff and the Experience Team to promote resident participation and interaction
  • Contributes to department success by completing assigned tasks and duties timely, providing program suggestions, and developing and completing the monthly calendar
  • Seeks and procures vendors for outside entertainment bookings
  • Supervises the effective completion of Experience Department tasks
  • Collaborates with associates, families, residents and volunteers to foster an environment that is resident-centered and successful
  • Teach volunteers their roles by sharing knowledge and providing instruction on their responsibilities in the activity process
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to ensure business continuity
