River Valley Technical Center is looking for an individual who can serve as the Criminal Justice Instructor. This position is demanding and will require a diverse set of skills to complete the expectations of the position. If you are currently active in a related field and would like to consider teaching, please apply. Certification in Criminal Justice Education in the State of Vermont is preferred. A certification program is available via Vermont Technical College for new hires coming directly from industry. Candidates should have the following skills: Knowledge of local, state and federal criminal justice agencies including their purposes, structure, authority, and how they fit into the criminal justice system.Knowledge of the practical aspects of criminal justice system, history of corrections, development of law, parts and functions of criminal justice system, differences of state and federal law, criminal procedures in Vermont, court systems, law enforcement procedures related to criminal investigations, juvenile justice systems, ethics as it relates to criminal justice, and ethics in an environment of human diversity.Ability to develop student skills in leadership, citizenship, and interpersonal relations, as well as to develop appropriate work attitudes and habits through activities which may include those of youth leadership organization.Opportunities include collaboration with regional industry, post-secondary schools, and other regional partners to teach in a “state of the art” facility and program for Southeastern Vermont.
